On a recent Sunday, an unexpected event took place at the Makhachkala airport in the Dagestan region of Russia. A large group of individuals entered the airport premises shortly after the arrival of a plane. This led to the temporary closure of the airport by security forces. Fortunately, all passengers on the plane were reported safe by security personnel.
Local authorities mentioned that twenty individuals sustained injuries before the situation was brought under control. Following the incident, the Dagestani government announced that they would be enhancing security measures throughout the region, which is home to approximately 3 million residents.
Videos from the airport depicted some of the individuals involved in the incident, with some seen trying to overturn a patrol truck. Due to security concerns, the Russian Aviation Authority decided to close the airport temporarily to conduct thorough security checks. The incident is currently under investigation.
Sergei Melikov, the head of Dagestan, commented on the situation, emphasizing the importance of law and order. He also mentioned the need for empathy and understanding during challenging times.
