On the evening of Sept. 19, 2023, at approximately 5:58 p.m., Trooper Antonio May of the Arkansas State Police was actively managing a vehicular incident on I-30. For safety measures, Trooper May’s patrol vehicle was strategically positioned to obstruct one of the traffic lanes. While the three first responders were stationed in front of the firefighters’ pickup truck, an unforeseen vehicle collided with the rear of Trooper May’s patrol car. The impact propelled the patrol vehicle into the firefighters’ truck, which subsequently struck all three men.

Emergency medical services were promptly dispatched, and the injured individuals were transported to a medical facility in Texarkana. After receiving the necessary medical attention, all three men were discharged.

The Arkansas State Police is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
