CORAL SPRINGS – Florida, renowned for producing some of the most outstanding athletes, especially in football, is about to embrace a sunny technological advancement. The state’s warm climate has always been a boon for athletes, allowing them to train outdoors throughout the year. Now, the horizon of sports recruiting is set to shine even brighter with the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) recruiting technology.
Already making waves in soccer, an innovative app named AI Scout lets soccer enthusiasts upload their photos, videos, and stats. This gives recruiters a holistic view of potential talents, showcasing the positive potential of technology. With numerous young talents dreaming of playing sports at higher levels, AI is here to make those dreams come true more efficiently. Jeff Love, FAU Player Personnel Director, beams, “There’s an abundance of talent out there, and with AI, we can find the perfect match for our program seamlessly.”
Dan Cornely, a visionary professor of sports management at Florida Atlantic University’s College of Business, is excited about the prospects. “AI can produce academic papers in a flash,” he says with enthusiasm. In the dynamic realm of sports, this speed is a game-changer. “With the rise of the transfer portal and students transitioning between campuses, coaches can make quicker, informed decisions about recruitment and scholarships,” he adds. Cornely is eagerly looking forward to incorporating AI into his curriculum, ensuring students are ready for this bright future in sports management. Coaches, too, are gearing up for this positive transformation.
While there are discussions about how AI might influence athlete recruitment across institutions, Cornely sees AI as a beacon of progress and growth. Jeff Love adds with optimism, “In recruitment or coaching, we’re always on the lookout for innovative ways to get ahead.” The sports community is buzzing with anticipation for a football-centric AI app, which could be a reality sooner than we think, bringing more sunshine to the world of sports recruiting.
